More than half (60%) of adults in the UK do not have a Will either because they have chosen not to have one or have actively not crossed it off their to-do list.[1] Without a legally valid Will in place, the Rules of Intestacy will apply to the estate of those who pass away, which can create unnecessary tensions.
QualitySolicitors Gould & Swayne Trust and Estate Practitioner Ruth Grinter said the scheme supports valuable community work.
“Will Aid has not only helped us to reach people in our local community who do not have a Will, but it has allowed us to contribute to the wider community by raising money for charities who do incredible work day-in-day-out,” Ms Grinter said.
The scheme has raised more than £20 million for charity since it launched 30 years ago.
Will Aid campaign director Peter de Vena Franks said everyone benefits from the scheme.
“One in three people die in the UK without making a Will, leaving confusion and chaos behind along with the sadness of losing a loved one,” Mr de Vena Franks said.
“Will Aid encourages people to prepare this vital piece of paperwork at the same time as making a difference by raising money for charity.
“We are thrilled that QualitySolicitors Gould & Swayne joined this year’s campaign. They have contributed a great deal to our fundraising efforts in the past.”
