The SQE involves undertaking exams in SQE1 which focuses on knowledge from the fundamental topics in law, traditionally undertaking whilst studying at a law degree, as well as arears of practice ranging from property and criminal practice to professional conduct and solicitors account. The second lot of exams in SQE2 has a more practical and hands on foundation and involves areas such as legal drafting and advocacy. Those wishing to qualify under this route must undertake at least 2 years qualifying work experience which replace the LPC ‘seats’. The overall outcome of the SQE is to qualify as a solicitor once the SQE exams and qualifying work experience has been completed.

Announcement of New Trainee Solicitors
Barwells are pleased to announce that both Kayleigh Dowty and Hannah Trigwell are now trainee solicitors. They are both doing the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE), which is the new route to becoming a solicitor and will eventually replace the LPC which is currently the traditional route.
