QualitySolicitors Barwells are delighted to announce that one of our employees has been announced as a finalist in the East Sussex Women in Business Awards. Sophie Maloney, a Private Client Practitioner based at our Hailsham branch, was shortlisted for the Contribution to the Community Award, which acknowledges those who have made a direct difference to their immediate and wider Sussex community. In law Sophie specialises in Wills and Probate. However, outside of work she is a registered Dementia Friend with the Alzheimer’s Society as well as a keen supporter of local charities. She is also actively involved with St Wilfrid’s Hospice, both in and out of work where she tries to take part in as many events as she can to raise money for the Samaritans. Sophie has also joined forces with the Hailsham Age Concern centre, offering a monthly visit whereby staff and visitors can ask her question regarding Barwells legal affairs. She’s also involved with promoting the Centre and encouraging the local community to join in with the various activities. Lauren Chambers, a Partner at Barwells, said; “We are all incredibly happy that Sophie has been nominated for this year’s East Sussex Women in Business Awards. She is a hard-working individual, both in her day job but also in the charity work she does. It’s great to see her recognised for the amount she does for our local community.” “Of course, everyone at the firm has their fingers crossed that she wins but either way we are still very proud of her.” The ceremony will take place on the 15th of September at the Cavendish Hotel, Eastbourne.
