A woman who dislocated her knee while dancing at Sin Bar & Nightclub in Temple Bar in Dublin has been awarded some €17,500 in compensation.
According to the Journal, Emma Fox said she had slipped and fell to her knees on St Patrick's Night in 2012, dislocating her kneecap. The kneecap popped back in after a couple of minutes, an injury that led to immobilisation, physiotherapy and anti-inflammatory medication.
Barrister Justin McQuade told the judge in the civil court that that the owner of the nightclub, Ciaran Gray, and two public house companies that own the premises out of which Sin Bar operates ignored Ms Fox's personal injury claim.
He went on to say that Mr McKeever, Ms Fox's consultant, had said she would be more likely to dislocate her kneecap again in the future, although this has not happened as yet. It was claimed that the defendants had been negligent by allowing people to go onto the dance floor with drinks in their hands, as well as not maintaining a proper system of inspection for keeping the floor clean and dry.
