Christopher Eccleston, who starred in Dr Who, was granted a divorce in just a matter of minutes due to his former wife’s “unreasonable behaviour”, which couples seeking help from divorce lawyers in Manchester might find encouraging.
The 51-year-old actor was given a decree nisi from his ex Mischka by District Judge Richard Robinson at the Central Family Court last week.
Mr Eccleston stated her behaviour “caused me stress, anxiety, sleeplessness and loss of weight” in papers revealed to the court. His 31-year-old ex-wife did not contest and the judge confirmed the marriage had broken down due to her conduct.
The couple got married in November 2011 and went on to have two children during their marriage - Albert, aged three, and Esme, two.
Despite being typically private about his personal life, Mr Eccleston previously told the Guardian: “There are only 19 months between Albert and Esme and my wife Mischka and I like that – we hope they’ll always have each other.”
The actor, who has also starred in Gone in 60 Seconds, went on to tell the Telegraph his children were now his main focus, after years concentrating on his career. He said: “They’ve taken the heat off and matured and relaxed me.”
He is not the only celebrity to have been granted a quick divorce recently, as singer, presenter and TV star Denise Van Outen formally separated from her husband Lee Mead in just 90 seconds.
Earlier this month, the actress divorced her husband of six years blaming the irretrievable breakdown of their marriage as reasons behind the separation.
The 41-year-old married stage star met Mr Mead in the Seychelles in 2009 before splitting up in 2013. They have five-year-old daughter Betsy together.
