Louise Gibbs joins our Family Law team

We are pleased to announce that Louise Gibbs has joined our family law team at the Cardiff office as a paralegal.

Louise supports Partner and Head of the Matrimonial and Family Department, Sandra Horwood, in all aspects of family law including divorce, children and financial matters, covering both private and legal aid work.

Louise’s sensitive, caring manner and her passionate drive to help clients through challenging times make her a valuable member of our team. She listens carefully to clients and supports them to understand all their options, so the best possible outcomes are achieved.

Louise’s background

Prior to becoming a paralegal Louise worked for the Citizens Advice Bureau as both a generalist advisor and as part of the EU Citizens Rights project in South Wales, where she gained experience in advising clients on a variety of matters including debt, employment, family and relationships, immigration and welfare benefits.

Before joining the Citizens Advice Bureau Louise undertook work experience at Capital Law. She assisted the Employment and Immigration team by performing a variety of tasks such as proofreading and amending legal documents. Additionally, she compiled research on GDPR, EU-US Privacy Shield and the impact of Brexit on EU nationals and their families residing in the UK.

After completing her secondary education at Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School and Barry Sixth Form, Louise studied Law at Swansea University. She gained a First-class honours degree and then completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) combined with a Masters in Advanced Legal Drafting LLM at Swansea University in 2020, gaining a Merit overall.

Throughout her education, Louise gained experience in the retail sector working part-time as a customer assistant at Tesco and a sales assistant at Peacocks.

Her personal interests

Louise participates in voluntary work in the local community, including helping to organize and run coffee mornings and other events at Crossways Methodist Church.

She enjoys socializing with friends, going to the gym, walking her dog and reading. She loves listening to music and she is a musical theatre enthusiast.

Louise says…

“I am very pleased to join the family law team at J A Hughes and especially to have the opportunity to undertake my training with Sandra Horwood. I am looking forward to helping those who find themselves in stressful circumstances by providing essential support and the best possible legal advice.

Where couples are going through a relationship breakdown, I am dedicated to helping them to find fair and amicable solutions, especially when children are involved. Mediation is a rewarding way to help couples make the transition to separation and to start a new chapter in their lives.”
