Making a Will

For many of us, making a will is something we know we should do but never quite get round to. Of course, it’s important not to put it off and the good news is that at QualitySolicitors J A Hughes, making a will could be much quicker and easier than you think.

If you pass away without a leaving a Will you will die intestate and your estate will pass in accordance with a set of laws known as the Intestacy Rules. The Intestacy Rules set out who will benefit from your estate and the people that you wish to benefit upon your death may end up with nothing. This is especially the case if you are not married to your partner as the Intestacy Rules do not automatically recognise partners as having the same entitlement as a spouse or civil partner which could result in your partner being left with nothing if you have not made a Will, despite this not being your intention.

At QS J A Hughes our solicitors have a wealth of experience in creating wills and make the process fast, straightforward and hassle-free. And once in place, you’ll be able to relax knowing that you’ve planned for whatever the future may bring.

Our caring, friendly solicitors take the stress out of making a will. They know the questions to ask and will guide you gently through the process. Expert legal advice you can rely on:

Wills and probate

Life is full of twists and turns and none of us can be sure what the future holds.

Deputyships

If you are concerned that a relative is losing capacity or has already lost capacity and they do not have a Lasting Power of Attorney or Enduring Power of Attorney in place then you may need to apply for a Deputyship Order from the Court of Protection.

Inheritance and tax planning

Planning ahead for when you die allows you to set out clearly who should get what from your estate. QualitySolicitors can help you think through your plans and their financial impact. Our aim is to ensure that your loved ones are cared for when you no longer can.

Making a Will

For many of us, making a will is something we know we should do but never quite get round to. Of course, it’s important not to put it off and the good news is that at QualitySolicitors J A Hughes, making a will could be much quicker and easier than you think.

NHS Continuing Healthcare

If you or a relative are receiving care, and you have complex and ongoing health needs then you could be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare. NHS Continuing Healthcare is a package of health care arranged and funded solely by the NHS. The setting in which the care is being received has no effect on eligibility.

Power of attorney

In an uncertain world it’s reassuring to know that our wishes will be respected even if we’re not in a position to make our own decisions. That’s why many people choose to create a lasting power of attorney (LPA) to provide protection should an accident or ill health prevent them from making decisions in the future.

Probate and estate administration

Losing someone close to you is extremely difficult and administering their estate is an important step to undertake. In some circumstances, this is more difficult because there is no Will or it is somehow invalid. QS J A Hughes can guide you through this process, identifying what the right steps are whether the deceased had a Will or not.

Trusts

If you have people who rely on you financially and need to be looked after but you do not want to simply gift them money or property then you may want to give some serious consideration to setting up a trust.
