Doncaster & District Law Society has today elected Mark Newby to lead it during a time of considerable change both in the local community but also nationally .
Lawyers face an increasingly competitive market and that combined with the dramatic cuts to rates for legal aid represent a considerable challenge to local practitioners .
Mark who has been Secretary of the Society for a number of years also has a wealth of experience in organisational change having been formerly National Secretary of the Round Table movement during a period in which that well known and regarded national organisation underwent considerable modernisation .
Mark said :
" Being appointed President was not a position that I had sought , however having been given the honour I am determined to use my experience to ensure that I can give the Team at Doncaster Law Society the best possible support in developing the society and its support for its members locally . I want to see Doncaster Law Society being a focal point for the local legal community and providing a valuable resource for members of the public . "
