Financial Matters

The matrimonial finances in a marriage can be complicated and when there is a relationship breakdown it can be difficult to know how all the assets and liabilities should be divided. When there are children involved the situation can become further complicated and stressful for everyone.

Matrimonial Financial Matters usually deal with:

  • Property
  • Spousal maintenance
  • Savings
  • Pensions
  • High value assets

Matrimonial financial matters are dealt with separately to the divorce proceedings, and a court application for a financial order may become necessary in circumstances when the parties are unable to reach an agreement. Financial applications can be expensive and parties are encouraged to attempt a settlement through negotiations with the exchange of financial information. This can be achieved using experienced solicitors or alternatively through mediation.

We undertake an initial assessment process where we assess your assets and what you are likely to be entitled to . We will advise you as to how you should progress your case to acheive those outcomes and propose a plan . We undertake this work for £300 + Vat

If after our involvment or following mediation you agree a settlerment then we will undertake all of the work to put that consent order in place and approved by a District Judge for £600 + Vat . We can undertake a no asset clean break for a reduced cost .

If you have to make a Financial Order application at court we will asses exactly what the appropriate fee should be based on your assets and the complexities of your particular case . Those costs can then be broken down between Stages as your case proceeds and of course we will have our experienced eye on getting you a reoslution wherever possible before any final hearing .

Living Together Agreements

More and more couples are choosing to live together and share their lives without getting married. And whilst emotionally, you may feel no different to a married couple; under the law, couples that live together without getting married do not share the same legal rights as those who marry. This can make things difficult if the relationship breaks down in the future particularly in regards to finance and property, and if children are involved, it’s important to protect their future too.

Prenuptial Agreements

Planning a wedding is an exciting time - and also a time when you start thinking about your long-term future. You’re probably looking forward to a long and happy marriage but it’s also natural to wonder what unexpected twists and turns life might bring.

Separation Agreements

Making the decision to end a relationship and separate is rarely easy and sometimes you may need professional legal help to ensure the separation process is handled fairly. Whether you’re facing a marriage separation or are ending a relationship after living together, it’s likely that you’ll have lots of questions and concerns. You’ll want to know what will happen regarding your home, possessions and finances. And if children are involved, you’ll want to ensure that their wellbeing is the main priority.
