LASPO introduces major changes legal aid from 1st April
Litigation Partner Peter Dymock says the Legal Aid, Sentencing & Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 ("LASPO") has brought in some major new changes, not least to legal aid. From 1st April, legal aid will no longer be generally available for private law family proceedings, except where there is clear evidence of domestic violence.
The Government is wanting to cut the massive public spend on legal aid services. For many people who need legal advice & representation they will worry how can they afford it ? We at Quality Solicitors Large & Gibson have a strong team dealing with separation & divorce cases, financial matters, children issues etc. This can be a distressing time for the client & we offer a sympathetic as well as a totally professional service to achieve the best outcome for you.
We are happy to discuss fixed fees with you & in suitable case to look at flexible payment plans .It is our job to establish at the beginning what is likely to be involved & to give the best estimate we can as to the likely fees so you can budget accordingly. We will also give you regular updates as the case goes along.
It is our policy to interim bill at regular intervals because we know from experience that client's like to know where they stand & to "spread the burden "in this way.
Litigation Partner Peter Dymock says "the anxiety & expense of Court proceedings is best avoided if possible. We at QualitySolicitors Large & Gibson like to explore the possibility of settlement on terms acceptable to you. Negotiation forms an important part of the process."
We have considerable experience of divorce & family cases including proceedings under the Children Act 1989 and disputes between cohabitants over the division of money & property.
