Domestic Abuse Drop in Advice Centre
Domestic abuse affects women, men and children in all manner of family relationships and walks of life and can be physical, psychological, sexual, emotional, financial or verbal.
With as many as one in four women and one in six men suffering from domestic abuse during their lifetime, a Drop in Advice Centre for people suffering from domestic abuse is now open in Worcester City Centre.
The centre is held at QualitySolicitors Parkinson Wright, Haswell House, St Nicholas Street, Worcester WR1 1UN and open every Monday - Friday from 09:30 – 4:00pm where people can call in without an appointment to get support and advice.
Representatives from the Worcestershire Forum against Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence, West Mercia Women’s Aid and Stonham will be able to give advice alongside Suzanne Oldnall, Head of the Domestic Abuse Team.. Suzanne can also make emergency applications to the court to get an injunction if necessary.
Martin Lakeman, Strategic Co-ordinator at the Worcestershire Forum against Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence says: "I believe the drop in centre is an exciting initiative, which seeks to offer support and advice to victims at a time when they are extremely vulnerable. Victims need to be aware that these important services exist so they do not have to suffer in silence"
