Clare decided to fundraise after sadly losing her mum to breast cancer in 2014.
“Visiting Machu Picchu had been a destination on Mum’s wish list for a while so we started to look at various trips; unfortunately, she became ill before we were able to book anything. I decided to carry out this challenge as a tribute to Mum, whilst raising money for an incredible charity.”
The trek will involve 5 solid days of walking 10-12 hours on mountain range terrain, reaching heights of 4,200m, meaning that Clare has undertaken a rigorous training schedule including a tough weekend in Snowdonia, treks over Exmoor and coastal paths and regular jogging.
“I just want to complete the trek in one piece; I’m most worried about getting altitude sickness and I’m trying my best to not even think about the Amazonian snakes and spiders!”
Clare has already raised over £3,000 for Breast Cancer Care through individual sponsorships and two fundraising events in her local village last year which included: The Rocky Horror Halcombe Show and the Mad Hatters Tea Party, her goal is to raise £4,000 by the end of February.
Everyone at QualitySolicitors Dunn & Baker wishes Clare all the best on her Inca Trail Charity Trek.
