What is family mediation and could it help me?

It is a voluntary process that offers you – and your partner - the chance to sit down with an independent trained mediator. The aim is that you try to reach an agreement. Mediation discussions can cover areas including arrangements for separation, children, finance and property. You can also make sure that the wishes of your children are considered.
You can resort to legal action if mediation doesn’t reach an agreement - but the process often helps reduce tensions as well as saving time and legal costs.
