What is Probate?

Probate is simply the legal process of proving a Will is valid. This is then followed by the process of dealing with ‘the Estate’ - matters such as any property, financial investments and money matters – in the way the deceased has instructed in their Will.
The term Probate is also used for the process of dealing with ‘the Estate’ where there is no Will. Sometimes this is known as distributing the Estate under the Intestacy Rules.
