More about Blackburn:
With a rich history in the textile industry, Blackburn was a major producer of wool from as early as the 13th century.  At the vanguard of the industrial revolution, Blackburn embraced new technology high up in the West Pennine Moors to become one of North England’s premier textile manufacturers; in fact Blackburn at one time was known as the ‘weaving capital of the world’ although an over-reliance on cotton led to a temporary decline in the town’s fortunes in the early 20th century.  Famous ‘Blackburnians’ include actor and comedian Lee Mack, World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty, and veteran TV and movie actor Ian McShane.

Blackburn is a historic town in Lancashire, North Western England. Blackburn is also closely tied to the south with Darwen, forming the unitary authority of Blackburn with Darwen. A former mill town, Blackburn was a huge producer of textiles from the 13th century onwards. Blackburn was also amongst the one of the first industrialised towns in the world. As textile production declined during the mid-20th century Black burn turned to alternative industries.

With a population of around 118,000 people as of 2011, Blackburn has a hugely diverse population, with over 30% of the population being of a different ethnic background.
